What is upper blepharoplasty?
Upper blepharoplasty is a treatment during which a plastic surgeon will remove excess skin and fat from the upper eyelid. It may be completed in conjunction with a lower eyelid procedure known as a lower blepharoplasty. Patients with other concerns such as puffy eyes, bags under the eyes, or sagging skin around the eyes may benefit from combining the two procedures for more dramatic improvements.
Who is a candidate?
The upper blepharoplasty procedure is best used for patients who have sagging upper eyelids. During the initial consultation appointment, Dr. Jessica Belz will assess a patient’s current situation and determine if they are an ideal candidate for blepharoplasty procedures. Whenever possible, she may be able to provide solutions with more conservative treatments such as cosmetic injectables. When the issue is more severe, it is more likely to require surgical intervention to resolve. This can be discussed during the consultation appointment.
Will I need to take time off of work?
As with any surgical procedure, healing and recovery is important to reduce the risk of infection and complications. Patients should speak to their doctor about how long they will need to take off of work, school, and social activities.
